Afrobeat king Femi Kuti will be performing at the 2012 Headies, taking place on October 20, 2012, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
This will be Kuti’s first ever
performance at the awards show. This addition is also a metaphorical
feather in the organisers’ cap, as the Headies seeks to cut across
several generations and genres of Nigerian music.
A few weeks ago, it was announced, along with the nominations list, that Kuti, 50, will be inducted into The Headies Hall Of Fame. ‘It’s a kind of privilege, its good. I mean I will drink a bottle of champagne when I get it, we will celebrate here’, the three-time Grammy nominee said.
The full list of artistes scheduled to perform at the award ceremony will be announced in due course by the organisers.
Other Hall Of Fame Inductees include Dayo ‘D1’ Adeneye, Kenny ‘Keke’ Ogungbe, Phillip Trimmel, Olisa Adibua, Obi Asika, Femi Akintunde Johnson, Sir Shina Peters and DJ Jimmy JATT.
