Pundits have been asking for collaborations like this for some time. And now, it’s happening before our very eyes.
Pop icon 2face Idibia has recorded a duet with Victor Olaiya, one of the oldest surviving highlife greats in Africa.
The collabo, a remix of Olaiya’s mega hit ‘Baby mi da‘ is one of Idibia’s pet projects, and we’re told he and his managers are super excited about the yet-to-be released cut.
On Thursday, January 31, 2013, Idibia 37, and Olaiya, 82, spent the entire day at Olaiya’s Stadium Hotel
in Surulere, Lagos to shoot the video under the direction of well known
film director Kunle Afolayan, who is making his first attempt at
shooting a music video.
The video for ‘Baby mi da remix‘ will feature appearances from actress Lala Akindoju (who plays the love interest of a young Victor Olaiya, played by his son), as well as key celeb cameos.
Afolayan, a multiple award-winning actor and director tells us the project is a big deal for him. ‘Dr
Victor Olaiya is a legend, so I’m working with two legends, I feel
highly honored. Very happy also to bring my own small creativity to the
music industry. I feel excited about it…’
