Hosted by “Glee” star Jane Lynch, the People’s Choice Awards were presented at the Microsoft Theater L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles and aired live at 9 p.m. ET (delayed for PT) on CBS. Jason Derulo and Shawn Mendes joined the Emmy-winning actress on stage as musical guests.
“Furious 7” star Vin Diesel delivered the most emotional moment of the night while accepting two awards for the blockbuster — one favorite action movie and one for favorite film.
“It was a labor of love,” Diesel said, referring to the death of co-star Paul Walker during production. “My only message to you is: you’d be amazed what you can do with love. You’d be amazed how powerful of a force that is. When we didn’t want to come back to filming, when the tragedy was too heavy, it was the love of everyone combined that saw through to the end.”
There were some surprises, of course, and some not-so-surprising results. But one thing is clear now: The people have spoken.
