Pop singer Chris Brown is kicking off the new year on a very bad note. The 26-year old is reportedly being investigated by the Las Vegas police after a woman claimed he punched her and stole her cell phone during a party.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers, who responded to the report of battery yesterday morning, disclosed that the incident happened outside a hotel room at the Palms Casino Resort. The alleged victim was attending a party in one of the hotel rooms when she got into an altercation with Chris Brown after she tried to take a photo of him with her phone.
It was at this point the victim claims the singer punched her and took her cell phone. When the police arrived on the scene, they tried to contact Chris in his hotel room but they were not allowed inside.
“The LVMPD has not heard from Mr. Brown regarding this incident and the investigation remains ongoing,” the release states. “A crime report has been taken for misdemeanor theft and misdemeanor battery listing Mr. Brown as a suspect.”
In 2009, Chris Brown was found guilty of felony assault against ex-girlfriend Rihanna which landed him community labor, five years formal probation and domestic violence counselling.
