It’s no longer news that popular Nollywood actress, Uche Jombo has said ‘I do‘ to her Puerto Rican lover, Kenny Rodriguez, in a secret wedding ceremony reportedly held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012.
The mathematician turned actress had earlier denied a story on Leadership Newspaper‘s
website claiming she was getting married, calling it a rumour and
telling everyone that cared to listen that her marriage ‘will happen
when it will happen.’
Her denial was published via her account on social network, Twitter, where she posted ‘Pls
I dt KNOW any chidi or chi-boy n frankly by now u should be tired of
marrying me off wit fake marriage stories pls! It will happen when it
will happen. All d stories won’t fast forward d process so PLS LEAVE ME
out of ur FAKE marriage gist/story #enoughsaid‘.
Less than a month after this tweet, she
is singing a new song, dumping the league of Nollywood spinsters to
become Mrs Uche Jombo Rodriguez.
Was she already planning this wedding,
while she denied media reports saying she was planning a wedding? Or is
the wedding just what it seems – impromptu?
Even some friends and colleagues are surprised; even though those who spoke with us admitted ‘she did the smart thing’.
Since all the drama that characterized Mercy Johnson’s wedding to Odianosen Okojie last year, some celebs are now getting more careful – Stephanie Okereke tied the knot in Paris,
away from the prying eyes of the media and detractors, and she made
sure to control what news and images made it into the public space. 2face Idibia and Annie Macaulay shut everyone out when they exchanged vows few weeks ago – including close friends, associates and some family members.
Those close to Funke Akindele who’s beginning the process of getting married this weekend,
tell us she’s ‘doing everything possible’ to make sure what needs to be
private about her wedding remains private. ‘She can definitely do
without all that drama’, one friend told us.
Multiple reports say Jombo had only one close friend present as she exchanged vows with Rodriguez: Desmond Elliot.
And, although there’s already plenty
speculation surrounding the wedding, the newly-weds have remained mute.
Repeated efforts to reach the actress have met a brick wall; but one of
her reps assured us she’s indeed married and ‘will speak out when the
time is right’.
