South African musician Brown Dash dies

South African Kwaito artist Brown Dash has died.
According to friends and other sources, 33 year old Dash, winner of Best Kwaito at the 2005 SAMA Awards, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. The artist had reportedly been ill for a long time, and spent three weeks in hospital last year after being diagnosed with pneumonia.
The news of his death spread via social networks, with Kwaito kingpin Mandoza saying on his Facebook: ‘Rest in Peace Brown Dash!‘. Metro FM DJ Oscar Mdlongwa also confirmed the news on twitter, simply saying ‘its true’.
Brown Dash rose to fame in 2002 as the vocal talent that sang alongside Mzekezeke, who ruled the charts with the hit, ‘Sguqa Ngamadolo’. Since the confirmation on his death, condolence messages have flooded twitter, and the singer’s facebook timeline, especially from friends and celebrities.
South African Producer and rapper Psyfo Tweeted ‘A kwaito legend gone too soon! May he rest in peace.‘ Other celebrities, including Bonang Matheba and Kwela Tebza joined in sending condolences.
