The 2012 edition of The Headies took place on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos and was hosted by Omawumi and M.I.
The big winners of the night were EME star Wizkid, YSG rapper Vector & Square Records duo P Square who all carted away 2 awards respectively.
Wizkid won the Revelation of the Year and Artiste of the Year awards while V E C won the Best Rap Single award for his single “Angeli” which featured 9ice and also got the Lyricist on the Roll award which was handed to him by 5 time winner - Mode 9ine.
P Square who received six nominations in this year’s Headies, won Album of the Year and Best R&B-Pop Album awards with their Invasion album. Jude Okoye also won the Best Music Video awards.
The MAVIN crew members Tiwa Savage & Wande Coal won the Best Vocal Performance in the female and male categories respectively for “Love Me(3x)” and “Private Trips“.

Davido won The highly sought after Next Rated award and the special prize of a Hyundai Sonata.
The EME Crew - Banky W, Wizkid, Niyola, Skales, Shaydee and DJ Xclusive gave a brilliant performance to bring down the curtains of the 2012 Headies.
A few of the winners couldn’t attend the Headies, the most notable being African & Afrobeat icon Femi Kuti who was to be inducted as a Headies Hall of Famer and was meant to perform as well.
