Fishermen of the tiny island of Carriacou were left horrified after an unidentified creature with scales, two feet complete with toes and even a human-like nose was discovered in the ocean. The odd hybrid had human-like feet allowing it to walk across the seabed!
Experienced fisherman Hope McLawrence, 74, who hauled the being in his nets said: “I have never discovered anything like this before. The wings and tail looks extremely complicated. By the look of the creature it can’t swim but walks on the seabed.
This has shocked me to a considerable extent since I never thought that a creature like this even existed, much less in the harbour of these shallow, friendly waters. This is like a mystery and breathes a chill with this discovery.”
Another baffled local said: “Everyone crowded around to look – nobody had ever seen anything like it. Quite a few people were pretty scared and thought it looked like something out of a sci-fi horror film.”
A walking fish, or ambulatory fish, is a fish that is able to travel over land for extended periods of time. Some other modes of non-standard fish locomotion include “walking” along the sea floor, springing, snake-like lateral undulation, and tripod-like walking.
