– Six-month pregnant woman stabbed to death over N1000
– She has gone to demand her money from a neigbour that lend out the money
Tragedy struck Monday morning, February 1, in Benin capital of Edo state, following an alleged stabbing to death of a six-month old pregnant woman, simply identified as Mrs. Ikhuoria, by her neighbour, allegedly over N1000.
The incident occurred at Iyamu street, off Edo Textile Mill Road, in Benin, when the deceased who was said to have gone to demand from her neighbour identified as Mama Emmanuel, to pay back the N1000 loaned to her.
The landlady of the building, Mrs. M. Okpojie, who confirmed the incident, said she was working at the back of the house when she heard shouting in the front of the building.
Okpojie further disclosed that when she arrived at the scene of the incident, she found the deceased bleeding profusely and was rushed to a private hospital where the doctor on duty referred her to another hospital.
“I was working at the back of the house when I heard shouting. I had to rush her to a private hospital when I saw the way she was bleeding. Doctor said it was an internal bleeding and I should take her away so I called the husband to come,” she said.
Recounting what transpired on that fateful day, the husband of the victim, Ediale Ikhuoria said: “My wife [loaned] her N1000 and when she demanded for the money, Mama Emma stabbed her. She killed my wife. My wife was six months pregnant. She died on Monday morning.”
When contacted on phone for comment, the spokesman of Edo police command, Abiodun Osifo, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
