Reports suggests that Blessings Tembo a Malawian man has been arrested and sentenced for attacking his wife with a lethal weapon.
Mr Tembo has been sentenced to two years in prison with hard labour after he inflicted great pain on his wife using a panga knife.
Nyasa Times reports that the 22-year-old man stabbed his wife Alinafe Yokoniya, 19, after she denied him his conjugal rights.
Tembo allegedly stabbed his wife in the head after she told him she was exhausted from her day’s work.
“Tembo fled after injuring his wife. The wife was taken to Kamuzu central hospital where she received treatment untill the 27th of January,” Esther Mkwanda, the Kanengo police spokesperson said.
The case was tried in the Mkukula Magistrate’s Court in Dowa.
News24 reports that a similar case took place last year when another Malawian man, John Yasini, was convicted to 13 and half years in prison with hard labour after he beat his wife, Linda Phulani, 18, for allegedly cheating on him with another man.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old pregnant Kenyan woman, Justa Kawira, was beaten to stupor by her husband, John Wachira, over the weekend for allegedly stealing money.
