Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti has called out the South African government over what he describes as an attempt to ‘ridicule’ American rapper, Mos Def.
The Nigerian musician was reacting to the recent arrest of the rapper who was nabbed for entering the country with fake documents.
Seun, who is a close associate of the 42-year-old rapper who is also known as Yasiin Bey, yesterday, January 22 took to his Facebook page to condemn the act saying it was rather unafrican to prevent blacks who are trying to retrace their roots from doing so.
‘The South African government keeps becoming more and more unafrcian. If mos def wants to relocate to Africa he should be encouraged to so as to clear the path for other young Africans in the diaspora to bring their wealth and expertise in various field to kick start the African Renaissance’, the musician wrote.
‘Instead they arrest him and try to ridicule him and his family. This is most unafrcian because there are plenty of people who came to South Africa with no visa and are still sitting there after 200 years by the way Mos def brought his own money !!!!’, he continued.
