– Mourinho set to complete a move to Manchester United
– Van Gaal has until the end of this season to prove himself at Old Trafford
There are reports that ousted Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is on the verge of sealing a deal to take over from Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United.
The Portugese has been tipped to succeed the Dutchman at Old Trafford if United fire Van Gaal.
It was disclosed that United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward had agreed to terminate the contract of the current coach, and with Mourinho available following his departure from Chelsea before Christmas, he is seen as the ideal candidate.
However, much will depend on if Manchester United’s form improve between now and the end of the season.
The Dutchman has to ensure United qualify for the UEFA champions league; failure to do so may automatically certify his exit from United.
Also, Bayern Munich coach, Pep Guardiola has been appointed as the new manager at Manchester City for next season on a three-year deal.
The 45-year-old will replace Manuel Pellegrini, who will leave on June 30. Pellegrini was appointed at the Etihad in 2013, he led the club to the Premier League and League Cup double the following season.
